Southwest Nanotechnologies to Debut New SWCNT Product at Printed Electronics and Photovoltaics Show

SouthWest NanoTechnologies, Inc. (SWeNT), the leader in high quality, single-wall and Specialty Multi-Wall carbon nanotubes (CNT), will introduce a new Single-Wall Carbon Nanotube (SWCNT) product with an exceptionally high concentration of semiconducting SWCNT species at the Printed Electronics and Photovoltaics USA 2012 conference (Booth C04). The Conference will be held December 5 and 6, at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, CA.

Developed for use in printed semiconductor devices, SG65i is the successor to SWeNT's grade SG65, widely recognized for its quality and consistency, and chosen by NIST as the basis for its standard reference material for SWCNT. Both SG65 and SG65i are produced using the patented CoMoCAT® process, widely recognized for its unique ability to control SWCNT chirality.

For semiconductors, any significant amount of metallic SWCNT content negates the inherent properties of semiconducting SWCNT. Secondary processes to reduce the metallic SWCNT content are low-yield, slow and expensive, and can damage the remaining SWCNT. The new product will dramatically improve the yield of semiconducting SWCNT, reduce process cost and time, and improve device performance.

SWeNT conductive and semi-conductive CNT inks for flexible printed electronics and displays are based on V2V™ Ink technology developed by alliance partner, Chasm Technologies, Inc. Using SWCNTs, these inks can be printed using commercial, high-volume printing methods and equipment, including flexographic, gravure and screen printing.

SouthWest Nanotechnologies, Inc. recently entered into a distribution agreement with Itochu Plastics Inc. part of the Itochu group, to distribute specific SWeNT commercially-produced multi-wall and single-wall carbon nanotubes as well as carbon nanotube inks, pastes and dispersions in Asia.

Printed Electronics and Photovoltaics USA are co-located conferences and a common tradeshow. The seventh annual Print Electronics USA is the world's largest event on the topic. It covers all the applications, technologies and opportunities for printed electronics in industries such as consumer goods, healthcare, military and electronics. Photovoltaics USA covers all the developments in thin film, organic and printed photovoltaics. Other highlights of the conference include the latest innovations on established photovoltaics technologies as well as emerging ones.
