Nanocomp Wins Silver for Innovation in Nanomaterials at Edison Awards

Nanocomp Technologies, the leading commercial producer of sheets, tape and yarn made from carbon nanotubes (CNT), announced today that they were named a Gold winner for innovation in industrial productivity and a Silver winner for innovation in nanomaterials at the annual Edison Awards, held April 30, 2014 in San Francisco.

Peter Antoinette, president and CEO of Nanocomp, joined hundreds of senior executives from some of the world's most prestigious companies to be recognized for the hard work and achievement by all of the 2014 Edison Award winners. "Being selected for not one, but two, Edison Awards is an honor and a true testament to the progress we have made in commercializing our carbon nanotube based products. This is made possible by the commitment and innovation on the part of all Nanocomp employees," Antoinette said.

Being recognized with an Edison Award has become one of the highest accolades a company can receive in the name of innovation and business. The awards are named after Thomas Alva Edison (1847-1931) whose inventions, new product development methods and innovative achievements literally changed the world, garnered him 1,093 U.S. patents, and made him a household name around the world.

"Just as Edison's innovations changed the face of technology as a whole, Nanocomp's CNT products are changing the face of advanced materials. For the first time, the promise held by carbon nanotubes is becoming reality," stated Antoinette.

"Our judges recognized Nanocomp as a true innovator out of the many products in its categories," said Frank Bonafilia, executive director of the Edison Awards.

The ballot of nominees for the Edison Awards™ was judged by a panel of leading business executives including past award winners, academics and leaders in the fields of product development, design, engineering, science and medicine. Other 2014 honorees included Yang Yuanqing, the Chairman and CEO of Lenovo, and Elon Musk, the charismatic leader behind Tesla Motors and SpaceX, who received Edison Lifetime Achievement Awards for the significant and lasting contributions to technology and innovation each has made throughout his career
