eSilicon Adds CSMC to Multi-Project Wafer Explorer for Instant MPW Quotes

eSilicon Corporation, a leading independent semiconductor design and manufacturing solutions provider, today announced the addition of CSMC Technologies Corporation, a leading pure-play specialty analog foundry, to MPW Explorer. MPW Explorer is eSilicon's automated, instant online quote system for multi-project wafer (MPW) shuttles.

The service, accessed through user-friendly web or smartphone interfaces, instantly generates executable MPW quotes. Users can quickly evaluate multiple prototyping options based on node, technology and package services. Typically it can take two or more weeks to get an MPW quote using the traditional manual process.

"Our analog process platform includes mixed signal, HV-CMOS, BCD, RF-CMOS, e-NVM, DMOS, Logic, BiCMOS, IGBT/FRD and MEMS. This variety is a nice addition to eSilicon's multi-project wafer quote offering," said Shao Jun, CSMC's VP, marketing & sales. "eSilicon's online approach gives customers a fast, automated way to compare a very wide variety of options."

"We're delighted to add CSMC to eSilicon's online MPW program," said Mike Gianfagna, eSilicon's VP, marketing. "MPW Explorer, our multi-project wafer quoting portal, is all about easy access and choices. Expanding the foundry list will indeed provide our customers with a significantly broader range of options for 'what-if' exploration."

MPWs reduce prototype cost by up to 90 percent versus a full production mask by grouping multiple IC designs on one mask set and sharing mask costs among multiple program participants. MPWs are typically used for research, product prototyping, IP verification, device characterization, and low-volume requirements.

eSilicon's online MPW services are available from seven foundries:

  • Altis Semiconductor: 130nm
  • CSMC Technologies: 130nm-800nm
  • GLOBALFOUNDRIES: 14nm-180nm
  • SMIC: 28nm-180nm
  • TSI Semiconductor: 180nm
  • TSMC: 16nm-500nm
  • UMC: 28nm-600nm

Availability
MPW Explorer is part of the eSilicon® STAR platform, an automated online secure environment that provides a self-service, transparent, accurate, real-time experience, from IC design through volume ASIC production. There is no cost or obligation to use the STAR tools.
