Mini Mona Lisa Created Using AFM and ThermoChemical NanoLithography

The world’s most famous painting has now been created on the world’s smallest canvas. Researchers at the Georgia Institute of Technology have “painted” the Mona Lisa on a substrate surface approximately 30 microns in width – or one-third the width of a human hair.

Authentication System Combining Moiré Patterns and Microlithography Techniques May Help Thwart Forgeries

In order to thwart forgeries, EPFL researchers propose a new miniaturized authentication system. By combining both, moiré patterns and microlithography techniques, it can be easily recognized by the naked eye and impossible to reproduce through currently existing printer or scanner technology.

CEA-Leti Programs Extend 193nm Immersion Lithography for 1X Nodes

CEA-Leti said today that its multi-partner programs, IDEAL and IMAGINE, have demonstrated cost-effective solutions that extend 193nm immersion lithography for 1X nodes for critical levels such as contact and via, and for the cut layer, when multi-patterning is used.

Nikon Partners with SUNY’s CNSE to Develop Next Generation Lithography Technology

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today announced that Nikon Corporation, a world leader in digital imaging technology and computer chip development, has partnered with SUNY’s College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering (CNSE) in a $350 million investment to develop the first of its kind next generation lithography technology on 450mm wafer and create 100 high-tech jobs.

Gigaphoton Reports Successful Continuous Operation of EUV Lithography Scanner LPP Light Source

Gigaphoton, Inc. a major lithography light source manufacturer, announced today that it has successfully achieved 2 hour continuous operation of its laser-produced plasma (LPP) light source for EUV lithography scanners. This milestone was confirmed using a prototype LPP system which generates EUV light by irradiating Tin (Sn) Droplets with a solid-state pre-pulse laser and a CO2 main pulse laser.
