Scientists Demonstrate Giant Non-Linear Optical-Absorption Phenomenon in Graphene

Graphene has the tendency to stack together to form graphite. A method developed by scientists from the University of Cambridge, DSO National Laboratories and the National University of Singapore (NUS) prevents graphene sheets from re-stacking by bonding alkyl surface chains on them, while maintaining the characteristics of their nano-graphene pockets.

Vorbeck Materials Secures Fund to Expand Sales of Graphene-Based Vor-ink for Printed Electronics

Vorbeck Materials has declared that it has wrapped up a completely subscribed series 3 funding with a total amount of $10 million. The funding was completed on 9 December 2011. Fairbridge Venture Partners and Black Powder were the companies which led the funding that also comprised 15 more investors.

Researchers Discover Lifetime of Electrons at Lower Energy Levels in Graphene

A research team led by Stephan Winnerl at Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR) in partnership with researchers at the Georgia Institute of Technology, the Grenoble High Magnetic Field Laboratory and the Technische Universitat (TU) Berlin has for the first time discovered the lifespan of electrons at low energy levels in graphene, paving the way to develop rapid optoelectronic and electronic components.

A research team led by Dr. Woo Lee, who serves at Stevens Institute of Technology’s Schaefer School of Engineering and Science at the Department of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science’s George Meade Bond Professor, has exhibited its novel graphene-based method for inkjet printing of energy storage devices, paving the way for the advancement of printed electronics.

Researchers at the Rice University and Schlumberger’s subsidiary M-I SWACO, a drilling fluid supplier based in Texas, have synthesized functionalized graphene oxide to eliminate the blockage of oil-generating holes in newly drilled oil wells.
