Gold Nanoparticles Help Measure Stickiness of Mucus Lining the Airways

Some people might consider mucus an icky bodily secretion best left wrapped in a tissue, but to a group of researchers from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, snot is an endlessly fascinating subject. The team has developed a way to use gold nanoparticles and light to measure the stickiness of the slimy substance that lines our airways. The new method could help doctors better monitor and treat lung diseases such as cystic fibrosis and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

Desmet Ballestra Enters Sales Agreement for Cavitation Technologies’ Nano Reactor System

Cavitation Technologies, Inc. (CVAT) Berlin: (Stuttgart:WTC) announced today that the Desmet Ballestra Group, CTi's strategic partner since 2010 and licensee of the company's vegetable oil refining technology, has entered into a sales agreement with a soybean oil refinery in North America. This newly built refinery will process approximately 500 tons of soybean oil and Desmet projects that system will be fully installed and operational in 2015.
