Faraday to Optimize IP Portfolio for United Microelectronics’ Advanced Node Processes

United Microelectronics, a major semiconductor foundry, and Faraday Technology, a provider of ASIC and silicon IP, have signed a deal for reinforcing their IP alliance to add basic and specialized IP for sophisticated processes of United Microelectronics.

According to the deal, Faraday will strengthen a comprehensive IP package for United Microelectronics’ processes ranging between 0.11 µm and 28 nm nodes in order to reduce their common customers’ SoC design time-to-market for several applications.

The IP portfolio includes low-power fundamental IP such as standard cell libraries, memory compilers and a line of interface IP such as audio DAC, SATA, DDR3 and USB 3.0, Faraday is a specialist in this IP series.

Faraday’s Associate Vice President of Marketing and Spokesperson, Jensen Yen stated that this deal illustrates the company’s design potential powered with United Microelectronics’ sophisticated technologies and reciprocal commitment in intellectual property development for ensuring competitiveness of customers in various up-and-coming markets.

United Microelectronics’ Director of the IP Development & Design Support division, Shih Chin Lin stated that the company is happy to extend its collaboration with Faraday through this deal, which is in line with the company’s strategy of launching a low-power, high-performance process platform range. The company’s platform for 28, 40, and 55 nm process technologies is an ideal solution that allows a flawless design transition path for mobile communication and consumer products.
