OECD Releases Science, Technology and Industry Scoreboard 2009

The Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) has released its OECD Science, Technology and Industry Scoreboard 2009.

Published every 2 years, the Scoreboard explores recent developments in matters relating to innovation, science, technology and globalisation and compares characteristics of OECD member and major non-member economies, providing information on the economic crisis and other global challenges.

This year, it focuses on 5 major areas:

  • Responding to the economic crisis,
  • Targeting new growth areas,
  • Competing in the world economy,
  • Connecting to global research, and
  • Investing in the knowledge economy

Within "Targeting New Growth Areas", is included a focus on nanotechnology, as well as health and biotechnology, and environmental sciences.
