Revenue from Nanoscale Anti-Microbial Coatings Reached US$711 Million in 2009

Research and Markets (http://www.researchandmarkets.com/research/2f9ef4/market_application) has announced the addition of the "Market Applications of Nanoscale Anti-Microbial, Easy-Clean and Self-Cleaning Coatings" report to their offering.

Revenues from nanoscale nanoscale anti-microbial, easy-clean and self-cleaning coatings were approximately US$711 million in 2009. Main markets are in construction and exterior protection (mainly in anti-weathering coatings and glazing) and interior household protection for surfaces (easy clean and anti-microbial coatings.

A number of multinational companies are heavily involved in developing new technologies for application across a wide range of markets and most brand owners with products related to surfaces (especially household care, paint, varnish and lacquer companies) are heavily involved in R&D; however the main thrust for innovative applications is provided by SMEs such as Nanopool, Alexium and Sarastro.

Revenues will total approximately US$2367 million per annum 2015.

The market for nanoscale anti-microbial, easy-clean and self-cleaning coatings will grow across all sectors over the next few years, with the medical, household care and food processing markets all experiencing large growth, driven by the need for improved sanitary facilities and also pushed by the vast improvements these coatings offer as germ and dirt repellers. These will find their way into brand products in supermarkets and sanitary nanoscale coatings are finding widespread application in Germany, Taiwan, Japan and China.
