WaferGen Biosystems, Inc., a leading developer of state-of-the-art gene expression, genotyping, cell biology and stem cell research systems, today announced that Alnoor Shivji, WaferGen's president and chief executive officer, will deliver a presentation entitled, "Genomics and Stem Cell Research -- Catalyst to Biotech Growth in Malaysia," at BioMalaysia 2008. The conference will be held October 7-9, 2008, at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.
Mr. Shivji's presentation will take place at 3:30 p.m. Malaysia time (3:30 a.m. Eastern time) on Thursday, October 9, 2008. The presentation will discuss the important role that genomics and stem cell research are playing in the expanding Malaysian life sciences industry and include an overview of the company's SmartChip(TM) product, which is currently being developed for the gene expression and genotyping markets, and being manufactured in Malaysia through WaferGen's wholly owned subsidiary, WaferGen Biosystems (M) Sdn. Bhd. Mr. Shivji's presentation will also provide an overview of the company's SmartSlide(TM) product that WaferGen is actively marketing to cell biology and stem cell researchers worldwide.
