EXFO to Showcase MXS-9100 MEMS MxN Matrix Optical Switch at OFC/NFOEC 2013

EXFO Inc. announced today that it will be attending OFC/NFOEC 2013, March 17-21, 2013, in Anaheim, California, in order to demonstrate its test solution for deploying, validating and troubleshooting networks up to 100G in the field.

Steel-Toed and Field-Ready
At this year's event, EXFO will unveil the industry's most compact 10M-to-100G testing solution for SONET, SDH, OTN and Ethernet services, setting a new benchmark in innovation. Designed for the portable FTB-500 platform, the FTB-88100NGE Power Blazer module will enable service providers and network operators to support all possible rates up to 100G, as well as a wide range of technologies, including legacy TDM and new packet-based services. With EXFO's new solution, the challenge of turning up client services up to 100G as well as ensuring that they adhere to service-level agreements becomes that much simpler.

All-Optical Cross-Connect Technology
In a joint development effort with DiCon Fiberoptics, EXFO is proud to introduce the MXS-9100 MEMS MxN Matrix Optical Switch. By allowing M input fibers to be connected to N output fibers in a fully non-blocking manner, the MXS-9100 provides physical-layer connectivity and maximum signal fidelity, with stability and repeatability, while being protocol and bit-rate independent. This all-optical cross-connect technology provides the unique combination of low insertion loss, fast switching and high reliability that engineers require in lab and manufacturing environments.

EXFO and Menara Networks
EXFO will also be providing the testing and compliance backbone for a 100G Metro DWDM transmission demonstration based on Menara Networks' OTN CFP module. The live demo will be conducted at Menara Networks' booth (1421) and will include EXFO's FTB-500 next-gen network testing platform, the compact 40G/100G FTB-85100G Packet Blazer multiservice testing module as well as the FTB-5240S/BP optical spectrum analyzer. Network operators and service providers will experience first-hand how this test environment enables a seamless transition into 100G deployment.

"EXFO is using this year's OFC-NFOEC stage to showcase its industry-leading capabilities. This opportunity would not have been possible without our devoted partners, customers and experts who lead the industry in these complex areas of optical testing," said Étienne Gagnon, EXFO's Vice-President, Test and Measurement Division. "As a leading provider of 40G/100G test solutions for network operators and equipment manufacturers, our goal is to continue to meet and exceed our customers' needs."
