Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today announced that the SUNY College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering (CNSE) will host a Nano Job Fair on Thursday, November 14 at the CNSE Photovoltaic Manufacturing and Technology Development Facility (CNSE MDF) in Rochester, with targeted outreach now underway to attract qualified women, veterans and minority candidates to help fill more than 150 current and future openings.
This job fair builds on the Governor’s high-tech strategy to expand New York’s emerging nanotechnology industry across the state.
“The nanotechnology industry is rapidly turning Upstate New York into an international hub for advanced research and development, private investments and high-tech jobs,” Governor Cuomo said. “We are now reaping the benefits of this economic growth as the industry creates new jobs and looks to hire New Yorkers to fill them. I encourage New Yorkers interested in this cutting edge field to participate in this job fair in Rochester next month and begin exploring opportunities today online.”
The Nano Job Fair will be held at 115 Canal Landing Boulevard in Rochester, which was formerly occupied by Kodak’s MEMS inkjet facility before it closed last year. CNSE is transforming the property into the solar industry’s first full-service collaborative facility for research, development, commercialization, and pilot prototyping dedicated to advancing innovative crystalline silicon, or c-Si technologies.

CNSE and its corporate partners will provide prospective candidates with an opportunity to learn more about the job openings, complete and submit applications, and participate in introductory interviews. A significant outreach effort is being made to encourage women, veterans and minority candidates to participate in the Nano Job Fair.
Among the technical, engineering and infrastructure support positions to be filled are silicon solar process engineers and technicians, solar equipment maintenance technicians, and silicon solar business development positions. Additionally, candidates are being sought for positions in administrative, operational and support roles, ranging from information technology and purchasing to site services, with openings in facilities and maintenance.
Annual salaries range from $35,000 to over $100,000 for the positions, which are funded through the Research Foundation for SUNY (RF), a private, nonprofit, educational corporation that administers sponsored program activity.
