DirectRooms.com's Eilat Conference Covers Nanophotonics

The event, organised by the Association of Engineers and Architects in Israel, features Dr Jacob Scheuer as General Chair, with co-chairs in the form of Professor Antonello Cutolo, Professor Mario N. Armenise and Professor Ariel Cohen.

Topics on discussion in the Conference include Materials and Technologies (incorporating Semiconductors, Quantum Dots, Opto-fluidics, Novel Fabrication Methods and Beam Shaping, among others), Components and Devices (including Nano-photonics Devices, Novel Semiconductor Lasers, Photonic Crystals and Fibre Optics), and Applications (including Telecom, Nonlinear Optics, Optical Switching and Processing, and Aero-space Applications).

Plenary talks will be given by Shaya Fainman, UCSD, on the subject of "Nanophotonics for future information systems" and Eli Kapon, EPFL, on the subject of "Semiconductor Nanophotonics based on Deterministic Quantum Wire and Dot Systems".

The keynote speaker is Moti Segev, Technion, who will speak about "Super resolution and reconstruction of sparse sub-wavelength optical images"; while there will also be invited talks from Meir Orenstein, Yaron Silberberg, Salvador Sales, Aharon Agranat, Gil Rosenman, Joseph Zyss and Lopez Higuera.

Those wishing to attend the conference should check out Eihat hotels well before the event. As Lek Boonlert, the Head of Marketing for DirectRooms.com, notes, "If you think photonics is complicated, try figuring out what to do if you get there and can't find anywhere to stay."
