XG Sciences Joins as the Newest Member of the National Graphene Association’s "Industry Council"

The National Graphene Association (NGA), the main organization and body in the U.S. advocating and promoting the commercialization of graphene, announces the Michigan-based company, XG Sciences, as the newest member of the NGA Industry Council.

NGA’s Industry Council is an exclusive, invitation-only membership category, available to a select group of influential graphene companies positioned to assume the leading role in the development of the global graphene market and advancing the commercialization of graphene.

“I am proud that XG Sciences will be joining the elite ‘Industry Council’ at the National Graphene Association. As one of the leading graphene companies in the world, XG Sciences has a strong portfolio of customer engagements in end-user markets such as polymer composites and energy storage. I truly look forward to this partnership that will allow us to further pave the path for the commercialization of graphene in the United States and globally,” said Dr. Zina Jarrahi Cinker, Executive Director of the NGA.

XG Sciences, Inc., is located in Lansing, Michigan and was formed in 2006 for the purpose of commercializing technology to produce graphene nanoplatelets.  The company designs, develops, and manufactures graphene nanoplatelets at commercial scale, using two proprietary manufacturing processes to split natural flakes of crystalline graphite into very small and thin particles, which is sold as xGnP® graphene nanoplatelets. XG Sciences sells their nanoplatelets in the form of bulk powders or dispersions to other companies for use as additives to make composite and other materials with specially engineered characteristics. They also manufacture and sell integrated, value-added products containing these graphene nanoplatelets such as greases, composites, thin sheets, inks and coating formulations. Additionally, XG Sciences licenses their technology to other companies in exchange for royalties and other fees.

XG Sciences has sold materials to over 1,300 customers in 47 countries since its inception.  Their products provide performance enhancement in a variety of applications across numerous market segments.  Developmental and commercial activities are focused in four key vertical markets: automotive, sporting goods, packaging and industrial with an emphasis on advanced composites applications across all segments.

CEO of XG Sciences, Dr. Philip Rose, said “We are pleased to join the NGA and become a part of the Industry Council.  It is an exciting time for XG Sciences and the graphene market, driven by commercial adoption in multiple end-use markets and geographies. The graphene revolution has begun - and we look forward to further accelerating commercial growth together with the NGA and its members.”
