SVTC Provides Unique Development and Production Capabilities for Solar Module Development

Bloo Solar, a West Sacramento renewable solar energy company, announced today the selection of SVTC as its development and commercialization partner for its unique 3rd generation three dimensional architecture, thin film, solar module.

Bloo Solar, formerly known as Q1 NanoSystems, has started its solar brush wafer development production run which it plans to bring to market with initial commercial modules in early 2012.

Bloo Solar’s Solar Brush is a third generation technology that has many fundamental advantages over existing PV technologies that rely on traditional planar solar cells. By providing more surface area, superior light trapping and minimized recombination, the Solar Brush module is able to provide higher efficiency and a total power output 1.5 to 3 times higher than current technologies. The Solar Brush uses a three dimensional single junction solar cell architecture that provides output significantly greater than current technologies.

“This is an important partnership for our company,” said Larry Bawden, CEO of Bloo Solar. “Bloo Solar has developed a solid technology baseline over the last three years which we are starting to commercialize. Rapid product development transitioning seamlessly into production is key to achieving Bloo Solar’s time-to-market goals.”

By selecting SVTC as its partner, Bloo Solar will have access to a talented solar engineering team and a world-class facilities that supports many markets, including clean energy. The company specializes in managing the complete supply-chain process associated with bringing a new product from concept to commercialization.

“SVTC is privileged to work with technology pioneers such as Bloo Solar, for whom we can apply our advantages of superior cycle time, cost-effective development and faster time to revenue,” said Joe Bronson, President and Chief Executive officer for SVTC. “The timely availability of Bloo Solar’s remarkable technology demonstrates that SVTC provides a commercialization environment unique to the industry.”
