IMTS 2014: KERN to Highlight Ultra- and Nano-Precision Machine Tool Technology

KERN Precision, Inc., a subsidiary of KERN Microtechnik GmbH (Germany), today announced it will present ultra- and nano-precision machine tool technology in Booth S-8980 at IMTS 2014, McCormick Place, Chicago, IL, from September 8-13, 2014.

The company will exhibit the KERN Ultra Precision EVO CNC Machining Center equipped for 3-5 axis machining of medium to large production lot sizes. KERN has driven innovation in the ultra- and nano-precision machine tool arena for more than 30 years.

The KERN EVO machining center provides high productivity through fast acceleration, feed rates, and spindle speeds up to 50,000 RPM, while assuring the highest degree of precision on the part. The machining center's polymer concrete mono-block frame absorbs forces and vibrations that occur during machining. Users can obtain the highest precision on a work piece due to the KERN EVO's construction and positioning accuracy of ±0.5 µm (0.00002"). The EVO's advanced machine technology also provides superb surface finish quality down to ≤ 0.1 µm Ra.

The ultra-precision system can be outfitted with comprehensive accessories and options such as a 2-axis (B/C) high precision rotary table, a laser tool measuring system, touch probe and an automatic tool changer with 32-, 63-, or 95-positions. Optional spindles providing speeds up to 160,000 rpm are also available. Another potential add-on is an automatic work piece changer with 24 positions, alternatively with 36, 60, or more positions.
