Particle Shape Analysis Capability: Pi Sentinel PRO Shape Module

The Pi Sentinel PRO Shape Module (Pi SM) available from Vision Analytical adds the potential of comprehensive particle shape analysis to various size-only wet suspension technologies such as laser diffraction.

Apart from determining the particle size information, the Pi SM also identifies up to 30 shape-related measures like size and images of each measured sample.

The Pi SM has been designed for easy insertion into the fluidics line of the existing instrumentation of the users. The system includes an all-in-one Windows-based computer for dedicated control of the Pi SM, which also provides a real-time display of particle images.

Once the analysis is completed, the particle size results can be compared from the traditional size-only instrument of the users and the shape module.

The Pi SM has been developed specifically as an add-on component for size-only measurement techniques. It is possible to combine the Pi SM with the existing system of users, thus enabling the measurement of the same sample aliquot for both systems.

Most of the commercially available techniques tend to assume particles to be spherical while results are reported; thus, access to additional shape information and images of particles together with results from current methods enables users to gain a better understanding of the particles and their performance during the final use.
