Synopsys, Inc. today announced TSMC's certification of the IC Compiler™ II place and route solution on TSMC's 16-nm FinFET Plus (16FF+) process. Synopsys' IC Compiler II is the successor to IC Compiler, the industry's widely adopted place and route solution for advanced designs at both established and emerging nodes.

NCI Nanotechnology Characterization Laboratory Selects Rexahn’s RX-21101 for Preclinical Characterization Program

Rexahn Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a clinical stage biopharmaceutical company developing best-in-class therapeutics for the treatment of cancer, today announced that its drug candidate RX-21101 was selected by the National Cancer Institute's (NCI) Nanotechnology Characterization Laboratory (NCL) for its preclinical characterization program to help facilitate the advance of RX-21101 towards human clinical trials.

Nanotechniques Developed in Space Could Help Better Understand Deep Brain Stimulation

Applying nanotechniques developed in the U.S. space program may help to better understand the electrochemical dynamics of deep brain stimulation in order to fine-tune the therapy, according to a presentation by NASA Ames Research Center scientist Russell J. Andrews, M.D., at the International Neuromodulation Society’s 12th World Congress.

Holographic Microscope Could Enable Rapid Identification of Deadly Bacteria

A new way of rapidly identifying bacteria, which requires a slight modification to a simple microscope, may change the way doctors approach treatment for patients who develop potentially deadly infections and may also help the food industry screen against contamination with harmful pathogens, according to researchers at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) in Daejeon, South Korea.

Hot Carrier Propagation Across Graphene Holds Promise for Nanoscale Bolometry and Calorimetry

Due to the weak electron-phonon coupling in graphene, 2D Dirac massless carriers can present a much more elevated temperature than the graphene lattice. Such hot carriers propagate over long distances resulting in novel thermoelectric and optoelectronic phenomena.
