The global market for nanotechnology products was valued at $22.9 billion in 2013 and increased to about $26 billion in 2014. This market is expected to reach about $64.2 billion by 2019, a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 19.8% from 2014 to 2019.

‘NanoDays’ 2015: SUNY Poly CNSE Plans Series of Educational Programs for Children

In concert with Governor Andrew Cuomo’s educational blueprint for spurring high-tech careers in New York State, SUNY Polytechnic Institute’s Colleges of Nanoscale Science and Engineering (SUNY Poly CNSE), the CNSE Children’s Museum of Science and Technology (CNSE CMOST), and CNSE’s Smart System Technology & Commercialization Center (CNSE’s STC) have partnered with Erie County Community College, the Girl Scouts, and YMCAs across upstate New York to provide engaging, hands-on programs that will enable children and their families to experience the exciting world of nanotechnology as they take part in the national celebration of “NanoDays” 2015.

Geometrically Encoded Magnetic Sensors (GEMs) for High-Resolution Remote Biological Sensing

Scientists working at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and the National Institutes of Health (NIH) have devised and demonstrated a new, shape-shifting probe, about one-hundredth as wide as a human hair, which is capable of sensitive, high-resolution remote biological sensing that is not possible with current technology. If eventually put into widespread use, the design could have a major impact on research in medicine, chemistry, biology and engineering. Ultimately, it might be used in clinical diagnostics.

Researchers Develop Nanoparticle Therapy for Rapid Wound Healing

An experimental therapy developed by researchers at Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University cut in half the time it takes to heal wounds compared to no treatment at all. Details of the therapy, which was successfully tested in mice, were published online in the Journal of Investigative Dermatology.
