Design and synthesis of three-dimensional (3D) metallic carbon that is stable under ambient conditions has been a long-standing dream. Recently a new progress has been made by Professor Wang Qian ’s research group at the Center for Applied Physics and Technology (CAPT), College of Engineering of Peking University and her collaborators in this subject. They predict the existence of such phases consisting of interlocking hexagons.

NanoViricides Reports Positive Results from FluCide Non-GLP Study

NanoViricides, Inc. (the "Company") reports that it has received results of detailed lab analysis studies from the initial non-GLP toxicology studies of intravenously administered FluCide™. No overt adverse safety and toxicology effects were observed in this study of the Company’s optimized FluCide broad-spectrum anti-influenza drug candidate, even at the maximum feasible dose level. These results are consistent with the preliminary findings of this study that the Company has previously reported, and provide greater details of the safety of FluCide.

Interfacial Jamming of Nanoparticles Stabilizes Liquid Drops in Nonequilibrium Shapes

Oil and water don’t mix, as any chemist or cook knows. Tom Russell, a polymer scientist from the University of Massachusetts who now holds a Visiting Faculty appointment with Berkeley Lab’s Materials Sciences Division, is using that chemical and culinary truth to change the natural spherical shape of liquid drops into ellipsoids, tubes and even fibrous structures similar in appearance to glass wool.
