Researchers Fabricate HyTII Graphene Film with Tunable Bandstructure

A team of researchers from various disciplines at the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory (NRL), Electronics Science and Technology and Materials Science and Technology Divisions, has showed hyperthermal ion implantation (HyTII) as a viable means of substitutionally doping graphene with nitrogen atoms. The outcome is a low-defect film with a tunable bandstructure agreeable to a number of device applications and platforms.

MSU Researcher Successfully Classifies Carbon Nanotubes' "Stuffing"

Marianna Kharlamova (the Lomonosov Moscow State University Department of Materials Science) examined different types of carbon nanotubes' "stuffing" and classified them according to the influence on the properties of the nanotubes. The researcher's work was published in the high-impact journal Progress in Materials Science (impact factor -- 26.417).

Researchers Test Single-Molecule Nanocars in Open Air

Rice University researchers and their collaborators at North Carolina State University have recently tested their nanocars in open air, i.e., in ambient conditions instead of vacuum. What they found was these hydrophobic single-molecule cars became unsafe upon exposure to open air by getting stuck to the “road,” thus creating large speed bumps. The first nanocars were developed by the Rice team.
