Researchers Build Smallest Nano Heat Engine Operating with a Single Atom

Researchers from the QUANTUM work group at the Institute of Physics of Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (JGU) and the theoretical physicists of Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) have developed a heat engine that operates using a single atom. Their findings have been published in the latest edition of the journal Science.

MIPT Scientists Develop Ultra-Thin Ferroelectric Films for Producing Ferroelectric Tunnel Junctions

New Research Paves Way for Scalable Assembly of Nanotubes from Bottom Up

A team of researchers, led by chemist Paul Cherukuri from Rice University, have stumbled upon a Tesla coil’s robust force field, which causes the self-assembly of carbon nanotubes into long wires. This unique phenomenon has been dubbed as “Teslaphoresis.” The research findings have been reported by in the ACS Nano journal. Cherukuri suggests that this research would be the foundation toward scalable assembly of nanotubes from scratch.

Researchers Use Micromilling Technique to Fabricate Microfluidic Devices

In this study, Dr. Diana and her team of researchers present an inexpensive method suitable to develop microfluidic devices used in the biomedical field. Even though soft-lithography is the commonly used method to fabricate biomedical microdevices, it is still a time-consuming and expensive method. The growth in developing milling tools that are smaller than 100 µm, has resulted in the use of micromilling machines to produce microfluidic devices that have the ability to execute the cell separation process.

Nanolive is planning to launch a new microscope, also know as the 3D Cell Explorer, on December 14. This new microscope will help to observe living cells in 3D. For the very first time, this invention will enable researchers to examine the inside of living cells without causing any damage to them. The invention will be displayed for the first time at the world’s biggest cellular biology conference in San Diego, U.S.
