SUNY Poly CNSE and Inficon Enter R&D Alliance for Advanced Semiconductor Manufacturing Technology

In support of Governor Andrew Cuomo’s commitment to furthering New York State’s international leadership in the global nanotechnology driven economy of the 21st century, SUNY Polytechnic Institute’s Colleges of Nanoscale Science and Engineering (SUNY Poly CNSE) and Inficon, Inc. (INFICON) today announced plans for a joint research and development alliance on advanced semiconductor manufacturing technology.

NSF to Provide $81 Million to Support 16 Sites as Part of National Nanotechnology Coordinated Infrastructure

To advance research in nanoscale science, engineering and technology, the National Science Foundation (NSF) will provide a total of $81 million over five years to support 16 sites and a coordinating office as part of a new National Nanotechnology Coordinated Infrastructure (NNCI).

CeloNova Receives FDA Approval for Nano-Coated COBRA PzF Coronary Stent IDE Trial

CeloNova BioSciences, Inc. (CeloNova) announced today that it has received conditional approval to start an investigational device exemption (IDE) trial to study the COBRA PzF coronary stent system in patients at high risk of bleeding. This is a second major interventional cardiology trial for CeloNova in the U.S., following the successful enrollment of the PzF SHIELD clinical trial earlier this year.

Scientists Analyze Corneal Surface Nanopatterns in 23 Insect Orders Using Atomic Force Microscopy

In 1952, the legendary British mathematician and cryptographer Alan Turing proposed a model, which assumes formation of complex patterns through chemical interaction of two diffusing reagents. Russian scientists managed to prove that the corneal surface nanopatterns in 23 insect orders completely fit into this model.

Special Ultrafast Laser Enables Real Time Imaging of Semiconductor Chips, Cells

Using ultrafast beams of extreme ultraviolet light streaming at a 100,000 times a second, researchers from the Friedrich Schiller University Jena, Germany, have pushed the boundaries of a well-established imaging technique. Not only did they make the highest resolution images ever achieved with this method at a given wavelength, they also created images fast enough to be used in real time. Their new approach could be used to study everything from semiconductor chips to cancer cells.
