TSMC Certifies Cadence Digital and Custom/Analog Tools for 16FF+ Process

Cadence Design Systems, Inc., a leader in global electronic design innovation, today announced that its digital and custom/analog tools have achieved V0.9 Design Rule Manual (DRM) and SPICE certification from TSMC for its 16FF+ process, enabling systems and semiconductor companies to take advantage of the 15 percent speed improvement with the same total power compared to 16nm FinFET, or 30 percent total power reduction at the same speed compared to 16nm FinFET.

Taiwan Mitsui Chemicals to Manufacture and Sell ITRI’s STOBA Polymer

On September 16th, the Industrial Technology Research Institute of Taiwan signed an exclusive license agreement with Taiwan Mitsui Chemicals, Inc. (President: Takeshi Hiraiwa), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Mitsui Chemicals, Inc. (President & CEO: Tsutomu Tannowa), allowing it to manufacture and distribute ITRI’s STOBA™, the world’s only technology to prevent hazardous lithium-ion battery (LIB) thermal runaway which can lead to explosions and fires.

Lunaphore Wins PERL Prize for Microfluidic System to Detect Cancer

Last night the start-up Lunaphore, which is developing a rapid and precise system for cancer detection, won the PERL Prize (Entrepreneurial Prize for the Lausanne region). Awarding 50,000 Swiss francs to the winner, the prize is intended for innovative start-ups in the region. Another start-up from campus, G-Therapeutics, won the "coup de coeur du jury," receiveing 10,000 Swiss francs.

TSMC Certifies Mentor Graphics’ AFS Mega, Eldo Platforms for 16nm FinFET+ Processes

Mentor Graphics Corp. today announced that the Analog FastSPICE (AFS™) Platform including AFS Mega and Eldo® have been certified for 16nm FinFET+ V0.9 process technology through TSMC's SPICE Simulation Tool Certification Program, and on-going certification of V1.0 is on track to be completed by November, 2014.
