These orders follow extensive pilot programs conducted by each customer, which included not only thorough laboratory quality control tests but also test deployments in the local economy.

Novel 3D Vaccine Offers More Effective Method to Harness the Immune System to Fight Cancer

NIBIB-funded researchers have developed a novel 3D vaccine that could provide a more effective way to harness the immune system to fight cancer as well as infectious diseases. The vaccine spontaneously assembles into a scaffold once injected under the skin and is capable of recruiting, housing, and manipulating immune cells to generate a powerful immune response. The vaccine was recently found to be effective in delaying tumor growth in mice.

Confocal Microscope Helps Predict Non-Linear Optical Properties of Metamaterials

Researchers at the University of California Berkeley and the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (Berkeley Lab) used a new theory for non-linear light scattering to show that non-linear optical properties of metamaterials can be predicted easily. The study has been described in the journal Nature Materials.
