Nissan to Showcase Zero-Emissions LEAF Car with Self-Cleaning Nano-Paint Technology

The “world’s cleanest car” is daring its fans to get it dirty. Starting today, Nissan will launch a social media campaign that will include a series of online videos to showcase a zero-emissions Nissan LEAF with self-cleaning nano-paint technology. Created to demonstrate its potential use in future production vehicles, this LEAF is armed with Ultra-Ever Dry® paint to help repel almost any liquid that may come its way. Nissan first introduced the one-of-a-kind LEAF this past April.

Sienna Labs Awarded Patent for Thermal Treatment of Pilosebaceous Unit with Coated Metal Nanoparticles

Sienna Labs announced today that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office issued U.S. Patent No. 8,895,071 covering, among other aspects, methods of using the company's plasmonic nanoparticle platform for localizing thermal damage to sebaceous glands and hair, a key mechanism for their investigational acne treatment and hair removal indications.

Ryanodine Receptors Inserted into Tiny Nano-Membranes for Protein Study

Whenever muscles contract, so-called ryanodine receptors come into play. Calcium ions, which are ultimately responsible for the contraction of muscle cells, are released from storage organs and flow through these ion channels. Defective ryanodine receptors can lead, for example, to cardiac arrhythmias or sudden heart failure.
