LiqTech’s Nanotechnology-Based Silicon Carbide Membranes Receive NSF Certification

LiqTech International Inc.,, a clean technology company that manufactures and markets highly specialized filtration technologies, today announced that its silicon carbide (SiC) membranes are now National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) Certified. LiqTech’s membranes were tested and certified by NSF International to NSF/ANSI Standard 61, which means they are now approved for usage in drinking water systems.

Translational Data on Cerulean’s CRLX101 Polymeric Nanoparticle Candidate Published in PNAS

Cerulean Pharma Inc., a leader in dynamically tumor-targeted nanopharmaceuticals, today announced the publication of translational data on the company's lead candidate, CRLX101, currently in Phase 2 trials. NSF Grant Supports Cornell Endeavor to Improve Scalable Nanomanufacturing

Making large quantities of reliable, inexpensive nanoparticles for batteries, solar cells, catalysts and other energy applications has proven challenging due to manufacturing limits. A Cornell research team is working to improve such processes with a $1.5 million National Science Foundation (NSF) grant to support scalable nanomanufacturing and device integration.

Programmable DNA Glue Guides Gel Bricks to Self-Assemble into Complex Structures

A team of researchers at the Wyss Institute of Biologically Inspired Engineering at Harvard University has found a way to self-assemble complex structures out of gel “bricks” smaller than a grain of salt. The new method could help solve one of the major challenges in tissue engineering: creating injectable components that self-assemble into intricately structured, biocompatible scaffolds at an injury site to help regrow human tissues.

Selective Response of Vapour Molecules Found in Nanostructures of Butterfly Wings

Now research by the University of Exeter, in collaboration with General Electric (GE) Global Research Centre, University at Albany and Air Force Research Laboratory, and funded by the US Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), has discovered that the physical structure and surface chemistry of the Morpho butterfly’s wings provides surprising properties that could offer a variety of applications ranging from photonic security tags to self cleaning surfaces and protective clothing and to industrial sensors.
