Novel Nanoscale Measurement Approaches for Cancer Research

Jason Reed, Ph.D., is a sort of research jack-of-all-trades. He has a broad base of knowledge to pull from – an undergraduate and master’s degrees in physics and a Ph.D. in physical chemistry. While in his doctoral program, he focused on genome analysis of single DNA molecules. Since then, he has focused his research on biological systems – applying imaging approaches that look at how cancer cells grow or how they respond to treatment.

Foresight Releases Wrap-up of 2014 Nanotechnology Conference

“Integration” was the theme of the 2014 Foresight Technical Conference, and the invited speakers covered a broad range of scopes. Within the human scope, topics included the integration of nanoscale technologies into social, political, and economic spheres. Within the technical scope, topics included the integration of atomic and molecular parts into nanoscale structures and devices, as well as into existing and projected commercial products. Lightwave Logic Starts Production of Multi Integrated Nanophotonic Transceiver Prototype

Light can trigger coordinated, wavelike motions of atoms in atom-thin layers of crystal, scientists have shown. The waves, called phonon polaritons, are far shorter than light waves and can be "tuned" to particular frequencies and amplitudes by varying the number of layers of crystal, they report in the early online edition of Science March 7.
