Scientists from EPFL, UC Berkley and Beijing have developed a slurry-based process that can revolutionize carbon capture. The slurry, consisting of a porous powder suspended in glycol, offers the efficient large-scale implementation of a liquid while maintaining the lower costs and energy efficiency of solid carbon-capturing materials.

NYSERDA Renews Award for CNSE’s Clean Energy-Focused Incubator

In further support of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo’s vision for expanding the state’s high-tech corridor and creating ‘green’ jobs, the Colleges of Nanoscale Science and Engineering (CNSE) at SUNY Polytechnic Institute announced today the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) award for CNSE’s clean energy-focused incubator has been officially renewed, with $1.2 million further supporting the entrepreneurial and commercialization-based opportunities for energy-centered enterprises that are enabled by Incubators for Collaborating & Leveraging Energy and Nanotechnology (iCLEAN).

Scientists at The Scripps Research Institute (TSRI) have created a synthetic molecule that mimics "good" cholesterol and have shown it can reduce plaque buildup in the arteries of animal models. The molecule, taken orally, improved cholesterol in just two weeks.

Desmet Ballestra Enters Sales Agreement for Cavitation Technologies’ Nano Reactor System

Cavitation Technologies, Inc. (CVAT) Berlin: (Stuttgart:WTC) announced today that the Desmet Ballestra Group, CTi's strategic partner since 2010 and licensee of the company's vegetable oil refining technology, has entered into a sales agreement with a soybean oil refinery in North America. This newly built refinery will process approximately 500 tons of soybean oil and Desmet projects that system will be fully installed and operational in 2015.
