PI’s Integrated Solutions for Testing User Interfaces of Mobile End Devices

This video shows the 10-axis setup from Physik Instrumente (PI) for testing user interfaces of mobile end devices. It demonstrates a broad range of prospects for precision automation. A linear motor in an XY stage guarantees quick low-wear positioning on a plane. A hexapod enables precision alignment of the measuring sensor in six degrees of freedom so that the measuring probe can be applied to the surface at various angles. Furthermore, the sensor is regulated with a defined force through a voice coil drive. Control happens via a modular ACS motion controller with an EtherCAT interface. The tailored design of these multifaceted setups is done by the Engineered Systems product division at PI so as to confirm system responsibility from one single source.

Features of the PI Integrated Solutions include flexible travel range and force in vertical direction, 5 nm resolution, 230 mm x 230 mm planar XY motion, 1 mN force sensor resolution, ironless linear motors, and ACS Motion Control.
